Hannah and Collin

Hannah and Collin had a distinct creative vision for their wedding video. They sent over some references as well as a brief description of “Frank Sinatra, glamorous, and fun.” I had my work cut out for me if I wanted to apply such a specific theme for a wedding video.

I decided to use Wes Anderson inspired visuals when planning for this wedding, and worked with the videographers to make sure we got shots that included negative space, uncanny symmetry, and a bit of fun as well. The couple were more than happy to try out unusual shots and poses to capture the look we were going for.

Pre-Production

For weddings with particular themes, I love to make mood boards to ensure that the videographers are getting the types of shots that will be useful in the final edit.

I typically do a “Details” mood board and a “People” mood board. Then, on a separate, more wordy document, I explain the ideas in depth, that way the videographers always have something to reference after we meet and discuss.

As you can see, there are heavy Wes Anderson inspired compositions here, as well as promotions from the Bridgerton TV series, and other glamorous photos. Of course these are only still shots, the rest is up to the videographer’s discretion.
